2008 Men’s Nationals
June 13-15, 2008, Shiloh Inn, Killeen, TX
The 2008 USAPL Men’s National Championship proved to be Dustin Witte’s breakout meet. At only 19 years of age, Witte won the Teen division for the second straight year, took 6th Place in the Open division, earned a spot on the roster of Team USA, and gained recognition as one of the sport’s rising stars.
Witte squatted 650 pounds, benched 369.3, and deadlifted 606, narrowly missing 672. He ended the day with a 1626 total. The squat and total were both national and American teen records, and the bench was a national teen record. (National records can only be set at national meets, while American records can be set at any sanctioned meet.) Witte will represent Team USA at the IPF Junior World Championship later this year in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
