2007 USAPL Collegiate Nationals
We introduced the country to the new Texas A&M team and took 4th place at the 2007 USAPL Collegiate Nationals! Held in Killeen, TX, the meet featured over 200 lifters, representing 30 teams from around the nation. For our first national meet, we did pretty well: we worked as a team, our lifters made some good lifts, and we took home some trophies. We also learned a lot and saw what it takes to be a championship team.
Some notable efforts include:

•Dustin Witte (freshman) took 3rd in the 181-pound weight class and broke the Texas deadlift record (his own) with a 606-pound pull.

•Ryan Davenport (freshman, 220) squatted 600 pounds, becoming the third A&M lifter to do so in competition this year.

•Alesha Summers (freshman) had her best meet of the year and took 3rd-place honors in the very tough 97-pound class.

•Taylor Garrett (sophomore) had a rough day in the deadlift, missing his first two attempts. However, he hung in and made the lift on his final attempt, staying in the meet and earning 4th place in the 181’s.
