2006 USAPL Collegiate Nationals
Texas A&M powerlifters made a strong showing at the 2006 USAPL Collegiate National Championships. This year’s meet was the largest to date, with over 200 lifters representing nearly 50 schools from across the country. Senior Shay Stone led the team with an impressive 2nd-place finish in the 123’s that came down to her last deadlift. On the men’s side, Jonathan Padro (sophomore, 148) finished a close 4th. In addition, Randy Johnson (freshman) set a new bench-press Texas state record in the 242-lb Teen division with a 386-lb lift.
